Grace Lutheran Confirmation

Confirmation is a vital and important ministry of Grace Lutheran Church. Confirmation at Grace Lutheran is not a program; it is a ministry of the whole church. It is the people of Grace Lutheran Church reaching out to the youth and families through Confirmation. Confirmation is an intensive learning and faith nurture time that includes Bible study, service projects and fellowship events.

Confirmation ministry is organized into two major parts. The first part is 7th and 8th grade confirmation, where students focus on Bible (Old Testament and New Testament) and Small Catechism (learning about the Sacraments, the Ten Commandments, and the Lord's Prayer). The second part is 9th grade confirmation, where students focus on Christian Life, Lutheran identity, Worship, and the early church. Students experience instruction time with one of the pastors, and then work in small groups led by an adult member of the congregation for deeper learning.

Students are confirmed on Reformation Sunday (last Sunday in October) of their 10th grade year.

Wednesday Schedule:

5:00-6:00 pm Chew'n'Chat:

A chance for students to enjoy some fellowship time in the Youth Room with friends, and have something to eat. We often have pizza, and sometimes have other treats.

6:00-6:45 pm Evening Prayer:

This is a worship service for the whole congregation, and will be held in the sanctuary. You and your family are encouraged to attend. Note: the youth room and kitchen are closed during worship

6:45-7:00 pm Youth Room open

7:00-8:15 pm Confirmation Class.

7th and 8th graders meet in the Fireside room with Pastor Andrea. 9th graders meet in the Fellowship Hall with Pastor Todd.

Students and their parents are provided with a copy of the Confirmation Ministry Handbook which provides specifics on confirmation and expectations for student participation.

Students and their parents, together with their pastors and small group leaders, sign a Confirmation Covenant (link to PDF of doc) each year. This covenant clarifies our shared expectations for how families and the congregation will partner together to support students in confirmation.
